In craps, one player (called the “shooter”) rolls two dice while the other players bet on the dice rolls. The right to become the shooter moves clockwise around the craps table. Play goes like this: first, the shooter makes a “come-out roll” to establish a point. There are two types of bets that can be made – line bets and single roll bets.

Line bets are won through points. As mentioned earlier, the pass line wins if the come-out roll is a 7 or 11 and loses if it is 2, 3 or 12 (this is called “crapping out”). However, once a point is established, a seven roll is a losing roll and rolling the established point means a win. Players can also bet on the non-pass line, which is the opposite of a pass line bet (i.e. a seven is a losing roll during the come out round and a winning roll once the point is established). Single-roll or proposition bets are resolved in one throw of the dice by the shooter.
