Pai-Gow poker has its origin from china. It is an ancient Chinese game which was first played in US in the 18th century. Even though it was first played in 18th century, it was not so popular until 20th century. In china it was played using tiles but Americans converted it into the card game. The main object of the pai gow poker is to have both the hands higher than the dealer?s hand. Each player is provided with the seven cards and using those seven cards, he should make a 5-card hand and a 2-card hand which beats the dealer?s hand.

In pai gow poker five card hand should be greater than the 2-card hand otherwise the player is declared as the automatic loser of the game. The five card hand is card as high hand and the two card hand is called as low hand. If both the five card hand and the low card hand are better than the dealer then the player is declared as the winner. If both the hands of the player are not higher than the dealer then the dealer is declared as the winner. Finally if one hand either five cards or two cards hand of the player is higher than the dealer then the situation is called as ?push?. If the game is tie then according to some of the casino rules it is declared as default win of the banker. For example if you have K, Q and the dealer is also having K, Q then by default dealer wins the hand.

Pai gow poker uses a deck with the 52 cards and one joker. The joker card has the multiple functions, it can be used as an Ace to make a straight or flush.
