Video Poker was introduced somewhere in the 1970′s. It was around the same time personal computers were introduced. Video poker is nothing but a casino game played on a computerized machine that looks more or less like a slot machine. When poker was introduced it became very popular since people didn’t have to sit in person with other players and use their wits to win. This kind of poker games allows the players to be by themselves and not worry about their moves while playing.

Since it sounds interesting let us see how to play video poker. To start playing you must insert money or a barcoded ticket into the slot machine. By placing a bet of one or more credits and then pressing the Deal button you begin the game. You would then be given cards, which you can discard or exchange from the virtual deck available. This kind of Poker is based on the game of Draw Poker with the only exception that you play it on the machine and not any other players. You win or lose depending on the outcome of your final hand after you’ve hit the Draw button. The amount you win depends on your pay table in front of the machine.

It won’t be enough just to know the payback of your video poker machine. You must follow a strategy you have come to win. Applying a strategy to your poker game will ensure maximum returns. A few mistakes in the strategy when playing and you can maximize the house edge against you. Each poker has a strategy. You can use the Jacks or Better strategy while playing Deuces Wild. However, you must know or learn the game of Jacks or Better to actually use the strategy when playing poker.

Nowadays you can even install tutorial software in your personal computer at home and easily learn the art of playing video poker in a online poker room at the convenience of your home. Make sure that you brush up on your basics before you go out there to try your luck. Most of the poker games are variations of the Jacks or Better strategy. With a lot of programs available at your disposal and software to help you learn the game it is much easier than before to learn how to play Video Poker or for that matter poker overall. So don’t let the skill part scare you off, go ahead learn and give it try to know how easy it actually is.

Video poker is very different from standard poker, or the most popular poker game on the market today, Texas Hold’em. It is a casino game that is merely based upon five-card draw poker. It is not played at a table, but it can be played on the Internet or on a computerized console similar in size to a slot machine. Online poker games.

The game of video poker was first introduced in the 1970′s, although the machine back then was rather primitive. By the 1980′s, video poker became increasingly more popular in casinos, because people found them to be less intimidating when compared to table games. Now, video poker is a prominent place on the gaming floors of almost every casino. The game is especially popular in Las Vegas.

Here’s how to play:

First you place a bet of one or more credits by inserting money or a barcoded paper ticket into the video poker machine. Then, you need to press the ‘deal’ button to draw the cards. You will then be given the opportunity to keep or discard one or more of your cards in exchange for a new card drawn from the same virtual deck. The machine then evaluates the hand and offers a payout if the hand matches of the winning hands in the posted pay schedule.

Typically in video poker, payouts start with a hand consisting of a pair of jacks. Pay schedules after that are based upon how rare or common the hand is. Some machines offer progressive jackpots for hands that are rare. Poker tournaments.

Video poker machines are programmed to generate random card sequences, which are as random as the real thing.

Now, players can play games with variations other than five card stud. This includes Deuces Wild, Jacks are Better and Double Bonus.

If playing video poker is your favorite, then you can join a player’s club or slot club to return a small percentage of the amount of money that is bet in the form of complimentary food, drinks, hotel rooms, and merchandise. As a member of this club, you are required to use a card when playing on the video poker machine that allows the casino to track your actions, including how often you bet and for how long you play. This is used to establish your level of play and determine if you deserve additional complimentary items.

These complimentary items can make a big different in the amount of money you end up spending on video poker. In fact, this can result in a positive theoretical return in scenarios where there would normally be a negative theoretical return.

Both brick and mortar casinos and online casinos featured computerized poker games known as a video poker. Some players prefer playing poker in this way as it can be less daunting than playing at a table. Players are not afraid of making mistakes and some simply just have more fun playing video poker. There are some myths that people believe regarding video poker games. Most of which are totally false.

Some players believe that the video poker machines are set prior to use in order to provide a specified payback. They insist that because of this it simply doesn’t matter much how they play. In reality, strategy is quite important when playing video poker, just as it is at traditional table poker.

Another commonly held myth is that you should only play video poker machines that have not paid out recently. They would be due to have a win soon. And of course the flip side to that would be to avoid using a video poker machine that just recently paid out. Both of these lines of thinking are totally false. The machine contains what is known as a random number generator. This is utilized to shuffle the cards in the video poker game. The random number generator has no capacity for memory. It cannot remember what hand it dealt previously. Therefore there is no way that the machine can prevent another stellar hand from occurring again. The odds of having a royal flush are once in every 40,000 hands. These odds would not change from hand to hand. They would continue to remain the same throughout the game.

Still other players feel that video poker machine may be biased in the sense that they do not often deal players aces or face cards. There are many regulations placed upon casinos. One such regulation requires that players have the same chance of drawing these higher cards as a lower counting card. By ensuring that all cards have the same chance of being drawn, it makes it easier for players to use similar playing strategies that would be used if they were playing at a live poker table.

Draw poker and 5 card stud were the usual gambling card games on the paddle wheel boats of the Mississippi as well as in the bars of the long forgotten West in the era of the 1800′s. By the time the 1900′s rolled around, folks all over the United States were playing similar games of poker on weekend nights with family and friends.

Despite the growing popularity, you had to have played poker quite frequently and have a clear understanding of the game before you would go into a card room. That image probably remained true until video poker was brought onto the scene in the late 1970′s. Here was an up-to-date, entertaining and quite simple computer driven game that you could play alone without being intimidated. It immediately became an enormous hit with patrons of casinos across the country.

The initial video machines showed up in Las Vegas in about 1976. These fresh machines had limited payouts but did offer a $1,500 payout for a royal flush on the dollar machines if the maximum five coins were inserted. As soon as the machine manufacturers increased the payouts (for instance, to full house payout levels of 8 or 9 coins), player interest improved considerably and popularity of the video poker games began to skyrocket.

Today, casino floor managers are moving mature slots out and installing fresh video games on a regular basis. Video poker machines have evolved into scores of different games from the simple draw poker beginnings. Wild card versions such as Joker Poker and Deuces Wild are now offered as well as many bonus poker which pay higher amounts for various 4 of kind combinations.

Video poker is not only quite popular with casino customers; it’s also one of the less risky games in the casino for players, since winning does not rely entirely on luck.

The video poker machine is one of the most popular gambling machines in existence today. Part poker, and part video game, it’s the perfect combination to make it a modern day gambling sensation. Although today’s video poker machines are the epitome of our current high tech in gambling, they have existed in simpler form for about two hundred years.

Video poker is of course based on the card game of poker. The video poker machine of today is the result of the game of poker being manifested into different types of games at varying levels of technology through the generations. The game of poker has been played in America since the early 1880s, with the game being referred to as ‘Poker’ in 1834 by a man name Jonathan Green.

The earliest recorded ancestors of the video poker machine were coin operated machines which used poker cards. These machines came into the scene in the late 1800s, and were manufactured by a company by the name of Sittman and Pitt of Brooklyn. The poker card machines were placed in liquor stores and cigar shops, and shortly worked their way across the U.S.

These machines worked by the player putting a coin into the poker machine and pulling a handle, which spun five drums that held the poker cards. The player would wait for it to stop, while hoping for a winning hand. A winning hand was paid out in cigars or drinks. Sadly, and unbeknownst to the players, the Ten of Spades and the Jack of Hearts were left out of the deck to reduce the chances of winning.

In 1901, Charles Fey made the next big improvement to the poker machine by adding the first ‘draw’ feature to the already wildly popular machine. Fey’s addition to the poker machine allowed the player to actually use their poker skills in the game, as opposed to being left to the mercy of blind luck.

Charles Fey’s improvement allowed the player to hold certain drums still after the first spin, while pulling the handle to spin the remaining drums. This in effect was the first ‘hold’ and ‘draw’ combination.

Over the following years, people’s interest in poker card machines diminished, with only an occasional hiccup of interest every now and again. It wasn’t until the late 1970s that the poker machine was reborn into the video poker machine, thus rekindling the love of video poker.

The first of these machines appeared along side of the personal computer. It was this technology which made the video poker machines a reality. With its solid state circuitry, and its television like monitor, this clunky machine would give rise to the poker machines of today. These machines have made their homes in bars, casinos and even online poker.

Poker has steadily increased in its popularity. People are now playing poker everywhere-poker clubs, casinos and even online. With its increasing popularity, a lot of game developers have created different variations of the game, including video poker.

Video poker is poles apart the standard poker. We should take note though that when we say standard poker, we usually refer to the most popular poker games available on the market today, Texas Hold’em. The latter is a casino game (that has its online counterpart) that uses a five-card draw. Video poker is definitely played at a table but the interface can be played on the internet or in a computerized console that is a lot similar to a slot machine.

The video-version of poker was introduced to the general public during the 70s. Since it dates back decades ago, you can expect that the machine used then was rather primitive as compared to machines produced nowadays. A decade later, 1980, video poker was increasing its popularity in casinos because people felt more comfortable playing them. It was a lot less menacing as compared to pokers played at table games. Video game poker now takes its own notorious stage on the gaming floors of any casino. In the gambling capital, Las Vegas, video poker is especially popular.

Here’s a simple tutorial on how the game is played:

1. You need to put a bet of one or more credits by simply inserting money into the video poker machine. Some casinos uses barcoded paper tickets instead of cash. You then hit the ‘deal’ button to start drawing the cards. You will then be given a couple of seconds to decide whether you want to keep your card or discard one or more. If you decide to discard your cards, you will be drawn with a new card from the same virtual deck. After the drawing of the cards, the machine then evaluates all the cards of the players and gives the payout to the hand that matches the winning hands in the posted pay schedule.

2. Payout in video poker starts with a hand that has two pairs of jacks. Pay schedules that will be offered after that will be based on the rarity or the commonality of the hand is. As a general rule, progressive jackpots are offered for hands that are exceptional.

3. You do not have to worry about being cheated as the machines are programmed to draw cards at random series. It is just as random as the real thing.

There is a lot of player’s club or slot club that are exclusively for people who loves playing video poker. These clubs offer benefits like complimentary food, drinks, hotel rooms and merchandise to return a small amount of money that is bet in video poker. As an exclusive member of this club, you will be provided with a card that you will use whenever you play video poker. This card will allow the casino to track your winnings and actions. Poker tournaments.

Video poker is a high-tech variant of the popular card game, only this time the player plays against a computer instead of against human players. The machine uses the five card draw poker variant.

Although the earliest video poker machines first appeared in the early 1970s, the game did not start to take off until the Draw Poker machines were introduced by sircoma in 1979. Before long, many players began preferring to play poker with video poker machines rather than at poker tables and the machines soon began to rival the popularity of slot machines in casinos.

The game begins when a player inserts tokens or coins into the machine to place a bet. The machine then issues the player five cards. You can keep these cards or you can discard any number of your cards and draw new ones. After the draw, the machine evaluates your hand and delivers a pay-off based on a posted schedule.

Poker hands are as follows, in descending order: a royal flush, consisting of all three face cards and the ace and ten; a straight flush is five consecutive cards of the same suit; four of a kind is four cards with the same denominations (4 aces, for example, or 4 jacks); a full house is three of a kind plus one pair (two cards with the same denomination); a flush is any five cards with the same suit (does not have to be consecutive); a straight is five consecutive cards with different suits; three of a kind is three cards with the same denomination (three kings, for example) and a pair.

There are many variations of the basic game available, such as Aces and Faces in which you get high payouts if you have a combination with four aces or four face cards; Deuces Wild, in which the two acts as a wild card (a card that can substitute for any other card in the deck) and high payoffs are made on hands with four deuces or a natural royal flush; Double Joker, in which the two joker cards are used in forming combinations; and double bonus poker in which a player has five additional hands, with the best payoffs being for hands with four aces combined with a two, three or four.

Video poker, like real-life poker, has an element of skill, as well as luck, that you can use to turn the game to your advantage. Here are a few tips. If you have face cards, hold on to them. If you have three of a kind, discard the other two cards since you may be able to get four of a kind. If you have two pair, discard the fifth card for a chance at a full house. And, if you have two suited high cards, discard the rest of your hand.

Video Poker is simply a combination of two popular forms of gambling: the slot machine with the poker games. Winning a game of Video Poker involves a combination of player skill with genuine luck, making it a favorite with players. The game of poker is thought to have originated back in 1830, where it is recorded as having been played by French immigrants living in New Orleans. Video Poker uses a version of the game called five-card draw poker. Meanwhile, the coin-operated card machine (known affectionately as a “slot”) was originally invented in the late 19th century, with poker machines appearing in San Francisco in 1890. These machines were very basic by today’s standards, using real cards rather than symbols.

The machines declined in popularity throughout the first half of the 20th century. Economic difficulties combined with the limited technology of the machines themselves meant that people just weren’t interested in playing anymore. A very primitive electronic poker machine was released in 1964 but achieved only moderate success.

It wasn’t until the mid-1970s that the Video Poker machine as we know it today became available. Advances in technology meant that a central processing unit (CPU) could be installed inside the machines to give them a “brain”, whilst a monitor transmitted the action to the player.

Meanwhile, casino operators searched for new high-profit games, and the combination of a slot machine with the more traditional game of five-card draw poker proved to be a winning combination of the old and new. The first Video Poker machine was built in 1976 by Bally Manufacturing. It was black and white only, but a color version followed just eight months later, released by the Fortune Coin Company. Over the next few years, computer chips became cheaper to mass produce, and more casinos introduced Video Poker machines as they became more financially viable. A version called Draw Poker was released in 1979 by a company now called IGT, and it achieved unheralded success.

Video Poker really took off in the early 1980s where it became popular in casinos across Las Vegas. Players found themselves far less intimidated by a machine than they were when sitting down at a table in front of others. The popularity of the game has steadily increased during the last quarter-century and it can now be found in the majority of casinos around the world, as well as in bars, online poker room and on the Internet.

Video Poker games have become immensely popular since the 70s of the 20th century, but they faced the astonishing popularity with the advent of online casinos and casino games, which increased the number of admirers of casino games and led to the advent of new varieties of casino games. Nowadays there are about 30 popular Video Poker games and a number of less wide-spread ones.

The most popular Video Poker games are:

• Deuced Wild
• Joker Poker
• Aces and Faces
• And tens or Better

All these games are based on a very simple strategy. You make your bet of the outcome of the hand and receive a set of 5 (in 2 hands) or more cards. There are certain winning combination you have to have in your hand when the cards are dealt out next time to win, so looking at the cards you already have, you decide, which of the cards to hold and are given more cards to fill the set. In case you have a winning combination, say “wow!”, because you have won. Different winning combination have different payouts. The best combination are Royal Flash, Straight Flush, 5 of the Kind, 4 of the kind, etc.

The main idea is that you have to have a certain sequence of cards on your hand. You have to add the missing cards to have a certain set, but as you never know what cards you will be dealt, this is to some extent a game of chance, though, of course, you may make some predictions knowing what cards you already have. There are dozens of Video Poker strategies which help you if not to play, then at least to lose your money.

Each game has a number of playing strategies of its own, so you have to choose the Video Poker game you want to play and look for the strategy of a particular game then. In the long run, most casino players work out the playing strategies of their own, adjusted to their pace of playing, the game and their goals.
