Sam Torosian and Fred Wolf, the inventers of Super Pan-9, invented the game Pai Gow Poker. The game is derived from Pai Gow (a Chinese game of dominoes), but is emphasized in the American format – it implements on poker hand value instead of Chinese Dominoes. Pai Gow Poker can be played with a set of six players and the dealer. The game is to be played with a 52-card deck and a joker. The joker is a type of wild card which can be used in flushes or straights or by default acts like an Ace. To win, one has to defeat the dealer. The game is best understood in sequential stages as described below.

Objective
For players of pai gow poker, he/she must create two poker hands out of the seven cards dealt by the dealer. Both these hands follow standard poker rules. However there are some exceptions which is described later. The value of the two cards must not exceed the hand value of the five cards. The cards are called as per their settings or placements given to the players. The two card hand can be called minor, on top, small, or in front. The five card hand is often called big, bottom, or behind. The reason why the two-card hand is called “front” is because its closer to the dealer while the five-card hand is called behind because its closer to you.

Dealing
After shuffling, the cards are served in seven piles with seven cards, each pile facing downwards. The remaining four cards are kept untouched regardless of the players involved. Each player is assigned a number from 1-7 as their betting position, starting from the dealer and going clockwise above the counter. A number is chosen from that 1-7 assigned before practically by dice or electronically – and then begins the deal counter clockwise. If a spot is vacant it is still assigned but on the discard pile with the four untouched cards.

Hand Ranking (Cards)
Basically the two-card hand is one-pair and high cards. The hand rankings are quite different than the casinos using the hand A-2-3-4-5 as above a King high straight is, however, below A-K-Q-J-10 at Ace high. This rule does not apply in most of the casinos in California and Michigan, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest straight possible. In Californian casinos the joker is completely a wild card, it can enhance all hands or straights. However, its different in the case of others.

It is the players responsibility to ensure that the 5-card rank is higher than the 2-card rank. If it is not, then this is called a foul and the player loses. As for the two-card hand, the highest is a pair of Aces, and then going down from a pair of Kings to three and two. Two separate individual cards are also a possibility. The cards are generally ranked according to standard poker rules. The two card hand cannot have a flush, since this requires five cards. Also there are several house rules you should be aware of before you place a bet and start gambling. Various land-based casinos each have their own set of rules.

Determining to Win
If the hands two and five of seven cards beat the dealers corresponding hand then the player wins the bet. If the player wins any one, he continues or else loses to the banker. Ties are always an advantage for the dealer. For example, if a players two-card hands lose to the banker and the five hands is a tie, then the player loses. Casinos in California charge a flat fee to play, win, or lose. Other casinos charge a five per cent commission on the winnings which cannot be seen too often as this game takes more time as compared to other games. When all the cards have been dealt, the dealers cards are turned up by the banker, whose job is to re-arrange the cards into the highest possible combination. After the banker arranges the cards both hands (that is, the five-card hand and the two-card hand) are compared to that of every player and the payouts are given accordingly. In order for the player to win both their five-card hand and two-card hand must beat the dealers respectively. However, if only one hand beats the dealers hand while the other does not then it is a tie and no money is exchanged in the process. This is called a push. Nothing happens when the cards are pushed. Note that when comparing hands between the dealer and the player and if it is a tie then the banker wins (but the banker must have a tie on both hands or one-hand beating the players and the other a tie). Also if one hand is a tie and the other hand the player wins then this is also called a push. Usually the two-hand cards is placed in front of the five-hand cards. Poker tournaments.

Basic Strategy
A player should keep in mind to make the highest two-card hand leaving the five-card hand behind. A player can expect a medium to high in five-card hands and an Ace high on top. One should know the tables quite extensively and an approximate value can be calculated with a few rules of thumb. A player can always use House Way when confused as House strategies are always optimal – House Way is the arrangement of the dealers hand as it is pre-determined.

The House makes its money by taking a 5% commission on all winnings. When comparing the hands there could be a tie, which is also known as a copy. Every copy the money goes to the banker. The House way is the fixed rules that govern how the dealers hand will be arranged.

Pai-Gow poker is an ancient Chinese game that first began being played in the US in the early 1800′s. The game was changed a bit, with cards being used to play rather than the traditional use of tiles. It didn’t make its way into casinos until the 1980′s.

The object of Pai-Gow poker is to make two winning poker hands to beat the banker’s two hands. The player is dealt seven cards to be made into a five card hand, (which then becomes the high hand), and a two card hand (that becomes the low hand). These hands are then played and ranked as customary poker hands.

The only exceptions to this are: Ace, two, three, four, and five is the second highest straight, and the five card hand, which is the high hand, must be higher than the two card hand, which is the low hand. If the high hand and the low hand are better than the banker’s hands, you win. If you lose on both hands, you lose the game, otherwise it is a push. The banker always wins hands that are tied, such as king queen vs king queen.

This game uses all 52 cards, and one joker. The joker can be used as an Ace to make a flush or a straight. In Pai-Gow poker the only plan needed is how much to bet and how to set your hand. In the event you get stumped and don’t know what to do, you can show your hand to the dealer and they will tell you how the house would set the hand. Pairs usually win the two-card hands, and two pair usually wins the five-card hands, the only guesswork is when to split two pairs. This decision also depends on the house rules for splitting pairs. A hand that has no pairs is called a Pai-Gow. Online poker.

This game is known as a relatively easy game to both learn and to play, making Pai-Gow suitable for both beginners as well as seasoned players. Pai-Gow poker is a slow moving game, which has the added advantage that a small bankroll can last a player long time. Pai -Gow is an interesting break from the usual game of poker, and is said to be an acquired taste. If you’re looking for a change in poker games or just a break from the usual, you might like to give it a try.

Pai Gow Poker, admitting it appears to be a poker variant, in fact acquired from a Chinese domino game.

Up to six players can participate; all are action adjoin the dealer. While the broker is a lot of frequently the house, abounding casinos acquiesce for players to yield turns as the banker. Pai Gow poker is played with a 53-card deck, a accepted 52-card accouter additional a joker. The actor can be acclimated as an ace or to complete a straight, a even or a beeline flush.

While the baronial of easily is in the capital constant with that of accepted poker, there are some differences to be noted; the accomplished duke is 5 aces and furthermore, A-2-3-4-5 is the additional accomplished blazon of flush, aloft K-Q-J-10-9 and beneath A-K-Q-J-10.

Before cards are dealt, all players have to accomplish a wager. Anniversary amateur and the broker again accept seven cards, from which they anniversary have to anatomy a 5-card duke and a 2-card hand. The two agenda duke may be either a brace or clashing cards; it have to be lower than the 5-card hand. By way of example; if a duke contains A-A-2-9-7-5-8, the two aces may not be acclimated in the 2-card hand. If anybody does present a 2-card duke college than their 5-card hand, it is a abhorrent and they lose their bet. As commendations the rankings for the 2-card hand, any brace beats any two clashing cards. The accomplished 2-card duke is A-A, the everyman 2-3.

The players put their two easily face down and again the broker exposes his two hands. Now the players cards are apparent and anniversary player’s 5-card duke is compared to the dealer’s just as anniversary player’s 2-card duke is compared to the dealer’s.

- When a amateur wins both hands, the broker pays out the bulk wagered by that player.

- When the broker wins both hands, the broker wins the player’s wager. Poker room.

- When the broker wins one duke and the amateur wins the other, the action is alternate as a push.

- When the broker wins one duke and the added is tied, or if both easily are tied, the broker wins.

- When the amateur wins one duke and the added is tied, the action is alternate as a push.

Tracing its roots to ancient Chinese gaming, Pai Gow is literally translated as “make nine”. Pai Gow is a Chinese game, believed to be thousands of years old, and played with Chinese domino tile sets. The beauty of Pai Gow has attracted the curiosity of gaming audiences in cities such as Nevada and California.

In ancient Chinese, the translation of p’ai is a term designated both for cards and dominoes. The reason for the use on both objects is that there is no main difference between dominoes and cards in China. During the early Chinese dynasties, dominoes are precisely used as cards. Dominoes are packed and treated the same way as cards.

Prior to the birth of Pai Gow, there were already two old Chinese gambling games that may have been the reason for the development of Pai Gow. They are yu-p’u and yeh-tza. Some players consider the two games as card games. There are others, however, who consider that the game of yu-p’u to be similar to a modern poker dice or something similar to it. Only the game of yeh-tza might be considered as a card game since it literally means leaves. Many authors believe that the possibility of using leaves as cards is very apparent.

The movement of time and the availability of new materials paved the way for the formation Ku P’ai, which curiously resembles a game using dominoes. It is further believed that yu-p’u, the ancient form of gambling considered as poker dice game, is the root of Chinese domino games. A domino, after all, is nothing but a pair of dice placed side by side. Chinese dominoes, which could be traced from the writings during Song Dynasty (1120 AD), have developed since then. They are used in several tile-based games, namely, Pai Gow, Tien Gow, Gwat Pai, Che Deng, Tiu U, Kap Tai Shap.

Pai Gow today is played very similar to many existing card games. The only main difference is that domino tiles are used instead of cards. The similarities to card games such as poker could make Pai Gow something to be enjoyed as a recreational card game. There is no doubt about it; those who begin to learn Pai Gow often end up becoming more than enthusiastic about the game. After all, it only takes a very short time to realize the beauty and ease in playing this popular Chinese game. Online poker.

The popularity of Pai Gow has ushered into the development of Pai Gow Poker, an American version of the popular Chinese Pai Gow. It is a game played using cards, instead of the traditional dominoes, and is growing in popularity in various casinos as a source of amusement and fun.

Pai gow poker is one of the easiest games to play, and is one of the fastest growing casino games today, its fun and the casino edge when you are the banker is just 1%, making it a good game to win big pots!

Pai-Gow Poker played, using a 53-card deck made up from the standard deck of 52 cards plus a Joker. Online casino.

To play the dealer will deal seven cards to each player (face up); which must then be “set” two hands are compared with the dealer’s two hands (dealt face down). A comparison of the hands will then determine the winner.

The Rules of Pai-Gow Poker:

1.The first hand of 5 cards must rank higher than the hand of 2 cards.

2.The hands are ranked according to standard poker rules (chart below)

3.The Joker can only be used to complete straights or flushes, otherwise it counts as an Ace

4.Dealer wins any tie hands

When the Player wins:

• The player wins if both the 5-card and the 2-card poker hand outrank the dealer’s hand.

When the Player loses:

• The player loses if both the 5-card and the 2-card poker hand are outranked by the dealer’s hand.

• The player also loses if the dealer’s hand outranks either of the two hands and the other hand is identical.

There is a Tie (called a “push”) • When the player wins one hand and the dealer wins the other.

How the Hands/Card Values are ranked

Pai Gow Tips to win

Here are three tips to help you win

1. Bank!

When playing Pai Gow poker, bank any time you get the opportunity.

The bank wins when hands are copied, which pus odds 1% – 2% in favor of the banker.

This is the major way players get the odds in their favor.

Keep in mind the banker must be able to cover the wagers of all other players at the table.

For this reason, many players avoid it as they have insufficient.

Find out if the casino allows players to do banking, which will lower the potential cost of a failed hand as banker.

To lower the negative expectation to zero, it is best to bet as much as possible when banking, and as little as possible when not banking.

It is best to bet 6 – 14 times when you bank than when you’re not the banker.

In the long term, this evens up the odds in your favor.

Casinos often limit the amount of hands one player can bank. Banker duties are given in turn around the table.

If a player declines to bank, the opportunity is offered to the next player in sequence

It is best to find a table with no other players and a dealer. By doing this you can bank 1 in 2 hands.

2. Never Play a Full House

A full house should never be played as the upper hand. This will leave a simple high card for the forward hand, which means the player will almost certainly push.

The odds are better to play a three of a kind as the behind hand, with a two of a kind for the forward hand. This will increase your chance of winning considerably

3. Playing 3 Pairs

When a player acquires three pairs, play the highest pair in two card hand.

Any two pairs give a player a good chance to win the five card hand, so it is better to play the highest pair alone, this increases the players chances of beating any potential pair the dealer might play.

If you have six cards to a flush, the odds favor playing the lowest high card for that flush. This means the player saves a higher card to play in the two card hand.

Pai Gow means “double hand” poker. In it, a standard 52-card deck with one joker is used.
How it works: The player must create two poker hands out of the seven cards in his hand: a five-card hand and a two-card hand. The five-card hand must outrank the two-card. The two-card hand is the hand “in front” and the five-card hand is the hand “behind.”
Seven cards are dealt to each player. The only two card hands are pairs or high card. The player then makes his five card hand with the remaining cards.

The five card hands use the standard poker rankings.

How you win: If both of your separated hands beat the banker?s hands, you win. If only one wins, it is a push. If both lose, the player loses. Ties will go to the banker, which gives the house a small advantage. Make sure you understand the rules and do not foul your hand when you split it into two.

Strategy: The first goal is to set the best two-card hand possible within your limits of the game. In other words, the best possible two card hand that still leaves the player with a better five-card hand; your five-card hand must outrank your two-card hand. In general, an average hand will have a pair in the five-card and an ace or king high in the two card hand.

In a Playtech casino, the rules are fixed, but some variations on which hand is best exist in live casinos, so make sure you ask the house rules in these situations. The value of the joker also varies from place to place.

Pai Gow poker was founded in the early 1980s at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles by the gaming innovator Fred Wolf. The game become popular very quickly, and was soon in Las Vegas and then all over the world. It is an important staple of online gaming now. Online poker.

The house edge on Pai Gow is not as high because of the length it takes to play, so in general the takeout is higher. But there are many pushes, and it is a game where you can get action for quite some time. Online casino .

In a playtech casino, the house edge is under 3 percent, roughly 2.85. The house is always the banker in a Playtech casino.

Pai Gow is an interesting twist and combines elements of stud, but it also requires the player to make strategic decisions on how to split the hand. Take some time to play online and get the rules down, and you will find this version of casino poker might be the most interesting to play.

Pai Gow Poker is a new variation of the game of poker. It is played with 7 cards. They consist of two hands one with two cards and the other with five. The 2-card hand is the low and 5-card hand is the high hand. One of the players on option or dealer by default is made the banker. The game loss and wins are decided comparing your high and low hands with the banker. Online casino.

Pai Gow Poker is the new variation of Poker Game where your basic objective is beating the banker. Either a player or a dealer could become the banker in the Pai Gow Poker game. However, the player or dealer who assumes the role of the banker has to fulfill the responsibilities for wagers that come up during the playing rounds.

After every round of the game the banking option is offered to each of the players participating. The player who exercises the option to become the banker must have in his or her possession enough chips to cover all the wagers made by all other players. In case no one comes forward to be the banker, the dealer will assume the role by default. Incidentally, each player in the game receives seven cards. Each will make two separate hands using these seven cards. One of the hands will have only two and the other will have five cards. The hands are either set or ranked using the standard ranking system used in the game of poker.

One of the peculiarities of the Pai Gow Poker is that the dealer will deal seven cards in each betting area. It is immaterial that an area is empty due to absence of player. The hand with two cards is called the second highest hand. It is also termed as the low card hand or the front hand. There can be no straight or flush as only two cards are used. The highest hand will be a couple of aces. If a player holds a two card hand that is higher than the five card hand, his hand will be considered foul hand and the player will be an automatic loser. On the other hand the five card hand is the high hand of the player in the game. It is also called the back hand. They contain all the normal poker series like the straight, flush, four, eighteen and such others. The highest hand will be five aces. This can be achieved adding the joker to the four traditional aces.

As in many other poker games, the Joker has a special value. It could be used as an ace or as any of the missing card in a series. That means it can replace any card in the pack. That is why they can be used to create any of the sequences like the pairs, threes, fours or fives of the same kind. It will not however be the fourth ace if you have three aces with you.

If your 2-card and 5-card hands are higher in standing in comparison to the counterparts in the hand of the player acting as bank, you are the winner. If more than one hand carries such position then the player may be given the amount equal to his wager deducting a 5% commission. The commission will be collected by the dealer when the winning wager is disbursed. Similarly, if one of the hands is higher than the banker’s and the other is not in such cases, it will be considered as a tie. This is also termed as a push where neither any money is won nor lost. You will also be allowed to change or drop your bet before the next hand. Online poker.

However when both of your hands are lower in ranking compared to that of the banker’s you will lose. You will lose the amount wagered though no commission is charged on it. If your hands are identical to the banker, it is considered the “copy hand”. The advantage of your becoming banker is that you will automatically win all the copy hands.
