Las Vegas, Nevada – December 14, 2010 –It doesn’t get any bigger than this. Legend-in-the-making Amit Makhija of The Brunson 10 will take a seat throughout the week in the grand finale of The Big Game this week and face off against several larger-than-life poker professionals. Amit Makhija won his seat in the tournament through DoylesRoom.com by beating out fellow members of The Brunson 10 and a number of other DoylesRoom pros.

Brunson 10 Members Zach Clark, Amit Makhija, Chris Moorman, Dani Stern, Steve Gross, Alex Kamberis, Dan Kelly and David Sands along with DoylesRoom pros Todd Brunson, Mike Caro, Hoyt Corkins and Allen Kessler originally competed at DoylesRoom’s online poker tables for the chance to join Doyle Brunson in the special $100,000 buy-in televised event.

The pros took part in a contest called Race to the Small Screen where they were invited to play at ring games of all stakes and limits at DoylesRoom.com in an effort to earn points. The online poker sitemultiplied their Session Win/Loss x Hourly Multiplier to determine their points. Amit Makhija earned the most points in the contest, winning his seat in the $100k buy-in tournament.

In The Big Game, Makhija will face off against some top name pros including Robert “The Bus” Ferdinand, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Abe Mosseri, Phil Hellmuth and Vanessa Rousso. In a previous episode of The Big Game, Brunson 10 pro Dani Stern beat Phil Hellmuth with Kings vs. Queensto claim a monster pot worth $396,600.

Over the last few years, Makhija has established himself as one of online poker’s top MTT players, specializing in Sit ‘n Go’s and heads-up tournaments. In late 2008, he took first place in a major online poker championship series, winning $550,000. Since then, Makhija has cashed in a dozen major tournaments, earning over $3.6 million along the way.

To follow along with Makhija’s performance in The Big Game, read Doyle Brunson’s blog at DoylesRoom.com.

It is hard to get back in the swing of thing after the death of my only sister, Lavada Hale. Lavada was 79 years old and had lost her eyesight due to glaucoma and related eye diseases. She couldn’t stand the thought of living out her years in a world of darkness so she took her own life. She was such a strong person all her life and I never dreamed she was so depressed she could commit suicide. It was a tough time for our family but we are a tough family and I was proud of everybody the way they handled this tragedy. Thanks to everyone for their calls, tweets and prayers. RI. Lavada.

Pam, Todd and Anjela and myself were in Punta Cana when we got the news. We were having a great time in a great resort. What a big place, over 130 acres of 2,800 rooms, 13 swimming pools, eight restaurants and 10 or 12 bars. It was an all inclusive resort and there were lots of poker players there including Hoyt Corkins and five members of the Brunson 10. The tournament had 200 entries and should be a major tournament next year.

Thanksgiving has come and gone and I’m glad it’s over. I always overeat and feel miserable. The family was together and that was good because we are still hurting and it was nice to have everyone’s support. Every Thanksgiving I remember what Benny Binion used to say “I’m thankful Chili’s a dime a bowl and I love Chili.”

The Doyle Brunson WPT Poker event is starting at the Bellagio and I guess I’ll start playing poker this next week. It seems I feel better when I stay busy so I’ll give it my best shot.

I keep hearing that internet poker is the favorite to get legalization this year. If so, the government has lots of work to do on regulations, etc but I feel it would be a good move. Lots of taxes for a hurting USA.

…Launches Slots Tournaments with $750 Guaranteed Weekly Alongside Several $50 Freerolls

New Slots Tournaments at DoylesCasino pump out guaranteed winners every time

Las Vegas, Nevada – August 1, 2010 – The online casino that’s famous for fast action and making the dreams of casino players come true is getting ready to turn out more daily guaranteed winners. DoylesCasino.com has introduced Slots Tournaments, a new tournament format that combines the nonstop fun of slot machines with the edge-of-your-seat excitement of poker tournaments. Every Slots Tournament has at least one guaranteed winner and casino players can discover the high-energy game for free all August long with DoylesCasino’s Slots Tournament Freerolls.

Casino players who are familiar with poker tournaments won’t have much have a learning curve to deal with because Slots Tournaments work in much the same way. To get into a Slots Tournament, players must pay an entry fee known as a buy-in with part of the amount dedicated to the prize pool and a small portion designated for rake. Just like poker tournaments, players don’t have to risk any additional money after paying the buy-in.

Once registered for a Slots Tournament, participating players will be given a number of credits to spend during the tournament period. Credits are wagered with each Slot Machine spin and with each win players earn points. The player who has accumulated the most points at the end of the tournament is declared the winner and wins the first place prize.

Slots Tournaments are now available featuring a number of DoylesCasino’s Real-Series Video Slots including Loose Caboose, Crystal Waters and Texas Tycoon.

DoylesCasino.com is running a weekly $750 Guaranteed Slots Tournament on Saturdays at 7:00pm ET. The buy-in for the tournament with a $750 prize pool is $10+1. All August long, DoylesCasino.com players can try Slots Tournaments for free and compete for real money.

Pros Make Run for Bracelet Before WSOP Main Event

Several DoylesRoom Pros alive and well in Day 2 of Event #52 at World Series of Poker

Las Vegas, Nevada – July 1, 2010 – DoylesRoom’s top pros are making one final run for a WSOP bracelet before the Main Event gets started on Monday and judging by their performance so far in Event #52, $25,000 buy-in tournament, a win is well within reach.

In Event #52, a $25,000 No Limit Hold’em 6-Handed tournament, four DoylesRoom pros sailed on to Day 2 with ease. Daniel Kelly, one of four contenders for the 7th spot on The Brunson 10, starts Day 2 on Thursday in 10th place with 315,700 chips. Longtime DoylesRoom pro Hoyt Corkins finished the day in the 23rd spot with 252,000. David Sands, also competing for the next Brunson 10 spot, enters Day 2 in 34th place with 176,800 chips. Zack Clark of The Brunson 10 sits in 66th place with 40,300 chips.

Event #52 features a $4.5 million prize pool. The bracelet winner stands to win over $1.3 million and the top 18 places pay out a minimum of $58,699.

With two Brunson 10 contenders playing in the tournament, this event will be particularly interesting to watch. Sands and Kelly are competing with Faraz Jaka and Michael Martin at this year’s World Series of Poker for the 7th spot on Doyle Brunson’s team of legends-in-the-making. Each player is awarded points every time they cash in a World Series of Poker event. The player with the most points at the end of the WSOP will be The Brunson 10’s next member.

Brunson 10, longtime pros and potential members of the DoylesRoom prove to be extreme force in Las Vegas leading up to the Main Event

Las Vegas, Nevada – June 29, 2010 – With less than one week until the start of the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event, the pros at DoylesRoom.com are giving the field of thousands of online poker players expected to enter the tournament many reasons to fear them. As of Tuesday, June 29, DoylesRoom pros have earned $1,064,906 at the WSOP. The million-dollar total includes tournament cashes by Brunson 10 members, Brunson 10 contenders and longtime DoylesRoom pros.

A big portion of the $1 million belongs to DoylesRoom pro Allen Kessler who has had a sensational run in Las Vegas over the last few weeks, cashing in seven separate events to earn $370,374. Hoyt Corkins has cashed in three events for over $11,000 and Todd Brunson earned over $26,292 in two WSOP events.

Members of The Brunson 10, Doyle Brunson’s team of elite legends-in-the-making, are demonstrating why they’ve earned a spot on the team. All six members have cashed at the World Series, together winning over $442,000. Amit Makhija has earned $208,148 in two events, Dani Stern has cashed for $161,934 and Chris Moorman has earned $46,470 in two events. Zach Clark was also a double winner, cashing for $22,568 in two separate events. Alex Kamberis earned $1,240 and Steve Gross has so far collected $3,404 at the WSOP.

Finally, potential Brunson 10 members have won $214,44. While it’s true that every cash by poker players is important, each cash by David Sands, Faraz Jaka, Daniel Kelly and Michael Martin is perhaps even more crucial. The four online poker players are competing at this year’s World Series of Poker for the seventh spot on Doyle Brunson’s team of legends-in-the-making. Each player is awarded points every time they cash in a World Series of Poker event. The player with the most points at the end of the WSOP will be The Brunson 10’s next member.

Daughter of The Godfather of Poker leads team of everyday poker players to 2nd place finish in Reno, Nevada Charity Poker Tournament

Las Vegas, Nevada – May 14, 2010 – The Brunson 10 aren’t the only DoylesRoom players to do well on the international poker tournament scene. Pam Brunson and a group of non-pros showed the world that DoylesRoom breeds some of the top poker talent by finishing second out of 43 teams in the Throw Down Poker Championship on May 7th and 8th.

The 2010 Throw Down Poker competition, benefiting the National Kidney Foundation, unfolded over the weekend in Reno, Nevada. The event featured 43 teams of 10 players with each team paying $2,500 to play. While players competed individually in the Texas Hold’em tournament, each player earned points based on their finish along the way to compete for team title.

Pam Brunson and several ordinary DoylesRoom players with extraordinary talent proved that DoylesRoom is home to some of online poker’s best. With Brunson as captain, the team included Anjela Brunson, Michelle Richey, Suzie McBaine, Corey Williams, Morgan Stogner, Brett Shreffler, Carole Wueste, Rob Wueste, and Ed Padgett.

It should be noted that Pam Brunson was an obvious choice for team captain. As a proven tournament winner and manager of the Brunson 10, Pam Brunson is responsible for handling scheduling, daily business and managing the Brunson 10’s relationships with one of the fastest growing online poker sites and its players.

After an impressive two months, the Brunson 10 member and unstoppable force in poker sits atop World Wide Rankings on PocketFives.com

Las Vegas, Nevada – May 14, 2010 – Steve Gross is officially on top of the world, or at least the online poker world. The Brunson 10 member currently ranks first on PocketFives.com’s online poker tournament players World Wide Rankings, familiar territory for the poker tournament titan who has graced the top of many online poker charts. In 2009, Gross finished first in Card Player’s 2009 Online Poker Player of the Year rankings.

Not even halfway through May, Steve’s performance this month is one for the record books. Gross has made five final tables to win $128,969 and cashed in 17 events for a total of $202,782 in tournament winnings.

That’s just this month. In April, Gross won $19,630 in a $60,000 guaranteed tournament and cleaned up in a $55 rebuy tournament for a $5,371 paycheck. His total tournament winnings in April topped $52,000 and included three final tables and 28 events.

Steve Gross isn’t the only Brunson 10 player at the top of the PocketFives charts. Chris Moorman sits in the 7th spot having accumulated $31,718 in tournament winnings in May and an impressive $83,199 in tournament winnings in April.

Steve Gross and Chris Moorman are two of the elite poker players on The Brunson 10, Doyle Brunson’s team of pros. Zachary Clark, Amit Makhija, Dani Stern and Alex Kamberis occupy the other four spots. With another four spots left on The Brunson 10, Doyle Brunson, poker’s biggest legend, will continue to handpick members for his group of young, elite poker players until the team is packed with 10 of the world’s best legends-in-the-making.
