The rules for betting in blackjack can vary from casino to casino and there are variations on different online video blackjack machines as well.  The game in a live casino is usually played with more than one deck. To begin, the dealer will start dealing the cards to the player farthest to his left and continue around the table giving himself a card face down then deal a second card to every player and place his second card face up. Each hand can choose to take a “hit” or another card or to “stand”. Once you stand you cannot take another card. Another option is to double down, this is where the player automatically doubles his bet then takes one more card then passes. We’ll get to the strategy of when to do this a little later. The third option is to “split” and make two hands out of the two cards and play a double hand. Splitting two Aces would be a good example of when to use this strategy. You may also surrender your hand and give up half your wager before the dealer turns over his hole card.

Number cards count their face value and the Ace can count as one or eleven. The 10 and the picture cards all count ten. After the cards are dealt, the dealer will ask each player to hit, stand, double, split or surrender until all of the hands are played. The dealer then turns over his hole card and reveals his total. If his total is sixteen or below he is required to take a card. If he is at seventeen or above he stays.

In video casino blackjack there are typically five player positions on the screen. You may place your bets at one or all of these positions. Make sure you check the amount of the tables’ minimum bet and your total bet before you hit the play button. Poker tournaments
